- Oldest Horse: 62 years. “Old Billy” was an English barge horse born in 1760.
- Highest Jump: 8 feet 1 1/4 inches. Huaso, ridden by Captain Alberto Larraguibel, set this record on February 5th, 1949 in Vina del Mar, Chile.
- Longest Jump: 27 feet 6 3/4 inches. Something, ridden by Andre Ferreira, set this record on April 25, 1975 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

How many teeth does a horse have?

Horses are adapted to grazing. In an adult horse, there are 12 incisors (six upper and six lower), adapted to biting off the grass or other vegetation, at the front of the mouth. When does a horse sleep?
Horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down. They are able to doze and enter light sleep while standing, an adaptation from life as a prey animal in the wild. Lying down makes an animal more vulnerable to predators. Horses are able to sleep standing up because a “stay apparatus” in their legs allows them to relax their muscles and doze without collapsing.
