Email: Buyer asks you to send shipper the extra money

Summary: Email to seller that requires you to accept a check and immediately send the difference to someone (a shipping company).

Details: This scam is an email sent to the seller. The buyer claims that they would like to purchase your horse for their client. They will send you a check for the price of the horse + shipping fees. You are asked to send the shipping fee to the shipping company that the buyer specifies and the shipping company will pickup the horse.

Results: The check that is sent to you is a fraud. The buyer will cash your check which is good and you will loose that money.

Conclusion: There is no reason for you to send money to anyone that wants to purchase your horse. Think of how you would do a transaction when buying a horse. Would you expect the seller accept your check and pay a shipping company? No. You would make the arrangements and pay the shipping company. Use common sense when selling your horse.
